The story
About this creation
A ring created around a remarkable natural yellow sapphire of more than eight carats is a celebration of rarity, character, and uncompromising craftsmanship.
The sapphire at the centre of this piece is entirely natural and has not been heated, treated, or altered in any way to enhance its colour or appearance. For exceptional sapphires, this distinction is of fundamental importance, as an untreated stone preserves the character created by nature over millions of years.
The value of a natural sapphire lies not only in its size, but in the combination of its origin, colour, clarity, proportions, and, above all, its rarity. Yellow sapphires are often found with subtle honey, golden, or orange undertones, which can give the stone a warmer character. A vivid yellow sapphire without a noticeable honey or orange secondary tone is considerably rarer and is regarded as a particularly desirable expression of the colour.
Our sapphire displays precisely this quality, with vivid yellow flashes and remarkable purity of colour. Stones of this calibre are not produced to a standard, nor can they simply be sourced in identical replacements. Nature creates each one differently.
This ring was created in 2024, at a time when the market value of exceptional natural sapphires was already significant. Today, the value of comparable untreated stones is considerably higher, reflecting both their increasing rarity and the growing appreciation for exceptional natural gemstones.
For this reason, sapphires of this category are increasingly regarded as investment-grade gemstones, particularly when they are completely untreated. Their value is supported by a combination of scarcity, exceptional colour, substantial size, and the provenance of their natural formation.
It is important to understand that investment potential in coloured gemstones is never determined by size alone. The most desirable stones are those in which colour, quality, rarity, and natural condition come together in a truly exceptional way.
There are no two identical gemstones of high jewellery quality in nature. Unlike calibrated commercial stones, exceptional natural sapphires are not produced to fit a predetermined specification.
Each stone has its own colour, shape, proportions, internal characteristics, and individual personality. The role of the master cutter is therefore not simply to follow a standard shape, but to understand the mineral and reveal its strongest qualities through the cut.
This is where the experience of a true high jewellery atelier becomes essential. The design of the piece begins with the stone itself, rather than forcing the stone into a predetermined design.
When creating a new ring for a client, we approach the process in exactly the same way. We search for a unique natural gemstone first, carefully considering its colour, quality, size, treatment status, and potential, and then develop the jewellery around its individual character.
The current market is always taken into consideration, particularly for rare untreated stones whose value has evolved significantly in recent years. A new piece created today would therefore be based on the present market value of comparable gemstones rather than the cost of the original stone when this ring was created in 2024.
At the same time, our search is never limited to a single price point. We can source exceptional natural sapphires according to your individual budget and advise you on where the strongest balance between rarity, beauty, and value can be found.
If your budget is below the value indicated for this particular piece, we invite you to share it with us. Our team can then undertake a dedicated search and propose the most compelling gemstone options available within your range.
The objective is not simply to find a sapphire that fits a budget, but to identify the most exceptional stone that the budget can achieve. In high jewellery, this distinction is fundamental.
A remarkable gemstone should feel singular from the moment it is discovered, and the finished jewel should preserve that sense of individuality. This is the principle behind every piece we create: exceptional natural stones, considered design, and craftsmanship shaped by decades of experience at the highest level of jewellery making.

Living with your jewel
Caring for your jewellery
Caring for jewellery matters more than most people expect. Your creation sparkles newly after a gentle cleansing: most gemstones, and diamonds especially, respond beautifully to a wash in mild soapy water. But not every gem. An emerald, for example, must never be washed this way; its natural character asks for a different, gentler care. Please always ask us how to care for your jewellery, and especially for your gemstone. We will gladly show you.
Gold is a soft metal, and it deserves to be worn thoughtfully: removed for sport and heavy work, kept away from chemicals, stored in its box. And once every couple of years, we recommend bringing your jewel to a jeweller so the prongs can be checked for wear; a five-minute inspection protects a stone for a lifetime.
