Ring with Pink Spinel and Laboratory Diamonds

Ring with natural spinel from Burma and laboratory diamonds

This elegant ring represents a perfect balance between delicacy and refinement. The centrepiece is a rare natural spinel weighing 2.70 ct in a peach pink hue, originating from Burma – one of the most revered sources for this type of gemstone. The stone features a precise octagonal cut (octagon), which accentuates its natural lustre and depth of colour. Flanking the central stone are laboratory diamonds in a triangular cut (trilliant) of 4 mm diameter, chosen so that the composition achieves perfect symmetry and harmony.

Spinel was for centuries mistaken for rubies and sapphires, and many of the celebrated “rubies” in the royal crowns of Europe are in fact spinels. Today this gemstone is claiming its rightful place, prized for its natural beauty, durability and rarity — and it is increasingly sought as a unique alternative to ruby.

This jewel is a symbol of elegance, balance and individuality — an ideal choice for gemstone connoisseurs who wish to stand apart.

The story

About this creation

Ring with natural pink spinel from Burma and laboratory-grown diamonds

This jewel represents a union of history, rarity, and contemporary mastery of the goldsmith's art. The centrepiece is a natural spinel weighing 2,70 ct, mined in Burma (Myanmar) — a country renowned for producing some of the finest spinels in the world. The stone features a sophisticated octagon cut, which accentuates its delicate peach pink hue and extraordinary brilliance. Flanking it, laboratory-grown trilliant-cut diamonds, each measuring 4 mm in diameter, harmoniously complement the central gemstone and lend the ring perfect symmetry.

The Legend and History of Spinel
Spinel is often referred to as "the most underestimated gemstone in history". In antiquity it was mined from deposits that supplied royal courts from Rome to China. For centuries, however, it was mistaken for rubies and sapphires — and some of the world's most celebrated "rubies" are, in fact, spinels. The most renowned example is the "Black Prince's Ruby", a red spinel weighing approximately 170 carats, which adorns the British Imperial Crown. This stone has been recorded in historical archives since the 14th century.

Spinel occurs in nature across a broad palette of colours — from violet, blue, orange, red and pink through to purple. The rarest spinels in saturated pink, red, or softly peachy tones are today among the most highly coveted collector's stones. Owing to its hardness and resilience, spinel is also ideal for everyday wear, making it a favourite among connoisseurs of fine gemstones and those seeking an original alternative to ruby alike.

Living with your jewel

Caring for your jewellery

Caring for jewellery matters more than most people expect. Your creation sparkles newly after a gentle cleansing: most gemstones, and diamonds especially, respond beautifully to a wash in mild soapy water. But not every gem. An emerald, for example, must never be washed this way; its natural character asks for a different, gentler care. Please always ask us how to care for your jewellery, and especially for your gemstone. We will gladly show you.

Gold is a soft metal, and it deserves to be worn thoughtfully: removed for sport and heavy work, kept away from chemicals, stored in its box. And once every couple of years, we recommend bringing your jewel to a jeweller so the prongs can be checked for wear; a five-minute inspection protects a stone for a lifetime.
